We regret to announce the death of Eddie Whelan who was National President between 1983 and 1984.

Mr Whelan, who was 89, died on Sunday August 25. His funeral took place in Ireland on Wednesday August 28.

Paying tribute, Neville Whitehouse, who preceded Mr Whelan as National President, said: “Eddie was hugely respected by the trade. He thought the world of his branch, Wythenshawe, and the North West district.”

Mr Whelan is survived by his wife Mai and daughter Una and the NFRN’s sympathies are with them at this sad time.
