Bestway’s secret plans for own-label range revealed
Bestway is to help its retailers boost their own-label range with a roll-out of new products available from the summer.
The range was unveiled in secret in Glasgow earlier this month at the first of three nationwide retail development seminars for Best-one retailers who agreed to sign non-disclosure agreements.
Negative gross margins on Co-op own label
Nisa and Costcutter retailers that price match nearby Co-op stores experience negative gross margins on 4.9% of Co-op own-label lines measured by RN.
The wholesale prices (WSP) and RRPs for Costcutter and Nisa stores were compared with the prices of 184 lines in a London Co-op store. Overall, Nisa and Costcutter RRPs were respectively 6.83% and 4.73% higher than Co-op’s pricing.
Brexit puts the brakes on newspaper sales decline
The ongoing Brexit debate has slowed the month-on-month (MoM) rate of decline for national newspapers, according to the March ABC figures.
Monday to Friday sales decreases between February and March were all under 1%, with five newspapers experiencing growth and one remaining static.
Overall, MoM weekday sales were up by 0.2%, the figures buoyed by increases of more than 1% at the Financial Times, The Guardian and The Times.
Those papers also reported weekday and Sunday growth.
