 Distribution Disruption at Menzies Hull, Thursday August 9

Menzies has advised the NFRN that the news wholesaler’s  Hull branch suffered a network outage overnight affecting telephones, PBL packing systems, printers and all associated IT kit. Pack processes had just initialised when the data for the branch was lost.  Branch staff contacted Menzies’ 24 hour Service Desk and this was immediately escalated to its third party data provider and the ultimate telecoms provider Kingston Communication.

Contingency measures were put in place and the branch swapped over to manual contingency sheets. Unfortunately this led to disruption to the pack processes and the branch routes were running approximately 90 minutess behind schedule.

Menies IT department is continuing discussions with the IT companies concerned throughout today (August 9) to gain assurance that the root cause has been identified and resolved.

The branch’s data network is currently running as normal.

 

New Menzies distribution deal good news for retailers

Menzies Distribution has secured a major primary distribution deal to collect all daily and regional weekly newspapers printed by the UK’s largest news publisher, Reach plc,and deliver them to all wholesale distribution locations across the whole of the UK. Read more

Voucher Returns via Bow Branch

With effect from Monday 8 January 2018, all vouchers which were previously processed at the Bow branch will now be scanned at the Menzies Maidstone branch.

For those customers who currently send vouchers by post or recorded delivery, can you please now address them to:-

Allocation notification notices are available online via iMenzies. However, members can opt in to receive hard copies if they require them.

Menzies Distribution are currently looking at enhancing their iMenzies offer.

In order to ensure that these enhancements are in line with customers requirements they are looking for feedback and suggestions from retailers.
