NFRN Credit Union was established in 2006 to provide members with their own wholly owned mutual savings and loan facility.
Credit Unions are member owned and run co-operatives governed by the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965 and the Credit Unions Act 1979. NFRN Credit Union aims to be the best amongst credit unions and measures itself against more than 550 others in the United Kingdom.
It is dual regulated by The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, providing a safe depository for members’ savings.
It is a sympathetic lender that understands its members businesses and aims to respond to all loan requests within no more than 10 working days.
Savings and loans are covered, to a maximum of £5,000, with free life insurance.
Costs are minimised and the profits from lending to members are returned in the form of an annual dividend.
It is run by a board of directors elected from the membership of the credit union. The board are unpaid and receive only their out of pocket expenses.
It responds expeditiously and members of the board are always available 24/7 to assist members whenever they are in need. Recently, a member phoned in on a Friday afternoon in urgent need of money to prepare for the home coming of a premature baby. The money was in his bank account on the Monday morning.
NFRN Credit Union President Tom Searle says: “It is a tremendous privilege to have been elected to lead the continued development of what is the only completely free member benefit. The NFRN Credit Union is very much a growing force in member support and I recommend that you join.”
Remember the NFRN motto: “When e’er one man can help another, thank God for such a birthright, brother”.
